Memorial Garden Birdbath

THE MEMORIAL GARDEN

On the 100th anniversary of the original Chapel’s completion, the Memorial Garden was consecrated. The garden and its surrounding woodland areas provide a quiet offroad place for reflection and meditation, as well as a place for placement of the remains of parishioners and chapel friends who have died and chosen a more natural setting for burial. The names of the departed are etched into natural stones that sit along unpaved paths that circle the garden lawn and wind around the woodland area. The garden not only serves as a space of memory, but as a beautiful site for celebrations of baptism and marriage. Volunteer “Holy Weeders” maintain it to ensure that its cultivated flower beds and selective shrubs and trees will flower in due season and provide a welcoming place for quiet reflection and meditation. The garden is open to the public.

Memorial Garden

Since its founding, All Saints has always welcomed local and summer residents and visitors who attend the chapel and are committed to it as a place of worship. The process of interment in the Memorial Garden must comply with all applicable local and State rules and ordinances regarding burials. However, it is in the spirit of welcome that The Chapel Committee has chosen to define Chapel membership in broad terms, seeking inclusion rather than limitation in order that interment privileges be extended to all local and summer attendees and their loved ones, as well as to the many descendants of the founders of the Chapel.

Inquiries specific the Memorial Garden requirements and arrangements necessary for the interment of cremains in the Garden may be made to the Chair of the Memorial Garden Committee, whose name is listed on the Chapel Committee roster. A $350 application fee covers the cost of each approved individual designated on the stone. The Chapel’s selected engraver subsequently invoices the family of the deceased for the cost of the engraving.
